The city's only open-admission shelter, 501(c)(3) contracted by NYC; takes in 25,000+ animals/yr regardless of breed/age/medical. Surrender is by appointment only - they push surrender-prevention resources first. Adoption fee waived for veterans and for adopters 60+ taking a pet 6+ yrs; IDNYC = $25 off.
