Rescues that focus on a particular breed or group of breeds.

BREED-SPECIFIC DOG RESCUES serving NYC (contacts inline)

Use when an adopter or surrenderer wants (or has) a specific breed/type. Most are breed-club networks that cover NYC through a regional/NYC-area volunteer coordinator rather than a local shelter, so ALWAYS confirm current NYC-area capacity and intake. All are ACC New Hope partners unless noted. Verified against each org's own site / the ACC New Hope list on 2026-08-27.

"BULLY" / MOLOSSER BREEDS - what this group includes (read first)

'Bully breeds' refers to a family of breeds (the molossers/mastiff-type dogs), not only pit bulls. It includes: American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Bully, American Bulldog, English/Olde English Bulldog, French Bulldog, Boston Terrier, Bull Terrier, Boxer, Rottweiler, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, Presa Canario, Bullmastiff/Mastiff, Dogue de Bordeaux, Great Dane, and their mixes.

The label describes body type, not temperament - individual dogs vary widely, and behavior is shaped far more by training, handling, and environment than by breed. The rescues below welcome the full range.
