Best paths: for LAND HERMIT CRABS, the Land Hermit Crab Owners Society (LHCOS) runs a structured national adoption program with a location-based map that connects NYC rehomers with approved local adopters (free adoptions, science-based care standards); the Hermit Crab Association (HCA) is a second community. For TARANTULAS and other exotic invertebrates, Sean Casey Animal Rescue (Brooklyn) has taken them and is the best in-city call; Small n Furry Rescue (central NJ) is a regional exotic rescue experienced with hermit crabs and invertebrates. Never release pet inverts outdoors.
