EMERGENCY VET & POISON CONTROL - 24/7 crisis care (a sick/injured/poisoned cat can't wait for a rescue)

This is for MEDICAL emergencies, not rescue/adoption. If a cat is hit by a car, bleeding, not breathing, seizing, can't urinate, collapsed, or ate something toxic: go to a 24hr ER now. Call ahead so they're ready.

POISON / TOXIN INGESTION (call FIRST, then go to an ER)

  • ASPCA Animal Poison Control (APCC): (888) 426-4435 - 24/7, vet toxicologists. Consult fee ~$95 (waived w/ HomeAgain microchip).
  • Pet Poison Helpline: (855) 764-7661 - 24/7 backup line, per-incident fee.
  • Lilies are DEADLY to cats even in tiny amounts (a lick of pollen). Also: antifreeze, rodenticide, ibuprofen/acetaminophen, xylitol, onion/garlic. Don't induce vomiting unless a toxicologist says to.

Two things that save time in a crisis: (1) call ahead so the ER preps for you; (2) if it's a toxin, call poison control FIRST - they give the ER the exact protocol. Keep this tab handy offline.
